Filing COMPLAINTs about poor NURSING HOME CARE or SAFETY:
Complaints should be filed with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Division of Health Care Facility Licensure and Certification. This is the agency tasked with:
Investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment; and
Reviewing allegations related to substandard care and resident/patient rights.
They will evaluate a health care facility’s compliance with state and Federal regulations, document any areas of non-compliance, and may require a plan of correction from the provider. It is important to promptly report any issues as the department investigates recent complaints (generally having taken place in the past 12 months).
